Howdy-doody!

So I have another dreaded session with the laser enemy tomorrow and I really found the last experience painful(already posted and moaned about this!!!!!)

But last week I wanted to prepare and asked my doctor for painkillers stronger than co-codamol...they have given me a morphine based tablet Meptazinol.

Can I also use either ibuprofen and/or paracetamol?

(can you tell that I'm a huge baby now I know what to expect from the eye electrocution!!!!!!!)

Cheers if anyone knows the answer to my query!!!

Finger n' toes crossed for tmoz!😱

Hi, my hubby on this medication for chronic pain from neck injury, he is allowed both brufen and paracetamol alongside it, however he is not diabetic nor does he have any other medical history. The answer probably lies with your GP or perhaps double check with a pharmacist. Good luck for tomorrow ! 🙂

Best of luck for tomorrow, I kinda wish I hadn't read it though as I have just had my recall for an eye test as the last showed some background retinopathy... I am just hoping it hasn't got worse but I am getting pessimistic about this flippin' D at the moment.!!

Good luck .. Let us now how it goes.

Hi i have had quite a lot of lazer done so i know what you are expecting. I have been on lots of times been offered a pain killing injection in eye & only took it up the oppertunity twice. I have been T1 for 45yrs and still dont like injections but there ? No pain but a bit of a sweat on. Good luck !

Huh? An injection...in the eyeball? OMG! I found it horrific to have the lense shoved next to my eye let alone a needle coming towards it! Eek!!!

Did you find it help alleviate the pain Hobie? I was took back abit at my first session as the clinic said it would be uncomfortable but not painful. I found it both, like an electrocution of the eye, headaches and induced a cold/messed withmy sinuses!

Sorry Ann - didn't mean to frighten you, it is weird, it is a bizarre situation to be in but everyones pain threshhold is different so maybe you'll think 'what was she whinging at!'

Thanks Hanmill Mum, I have checked the Met thingy is ok with the big D and I am usually ok with the regular painkillers. As I am in hospital tomorrow, I may pop into the hospital pharmacy and chat with the guy there!! At least i'll be in the right place if I do have a reaction!!!!

Hi Suze I hope that your laser session today is easy now that you've got the painkillers.

Thanks Amanda, yep was a whole lot easier!! Still crushed my o/h hand when the laser caught and stung the odd vessel...bet he wishes he never came in with me!

Oh well...all tasered up for now!!!!:D

Glad you made it through ok suze. Hope I never need to go again. It's a great incentive to keep the Hb down ! 🙂
