Hi, has anyone had problems with Rosuvastatin? My cholesterol was raised at my last blood test, and I was put on this drug. I don't seem to be getting on with it at all. I am having real difficulty sleeping, as well as stomach pains, muscle pains, nausea and mood swings. I have just dropped a note through the door of my GP's surgery (it's Sunday and not open), informing him and the diabetic nurse that I have stopped taking them as of today, and have returned to my supply of Pravastatin.

I think people can get different side-effects (or none) from different statins. The only one I tried was simvastatin, but I got nausea and muscle pains from them, so stopped them. Why did they change you from the pravastatin in the first place?

Not heard of that one but tried a few and now don't take any. Too many aches and pains, that stopped me moving as much.

Raised cholesterol level. In was on the maximum dose of Pravastatin, but my cholesterol reading was over 7. I've had to reassess my eating habits and cut out even more of the things I like. A rule of thumb is 'If it tastes good, I can't have it'. I've tried Simvastatin and Atorvastatin and both gave me muscle and joint problems.
I should try to get out on my bicycle, but I have an arthritic back and hips. I used to cycle competitively in my youth, and weighed 3 stone less than I do now. I was 11 stone when I was diagnosed, I now weigh 14 stone. I'd like to get back to 12 stone, but that may take some time.

My consultant put me onto Simvastatin but I might have well have been popping smarties. Over a few years, the dose was increased til I was at 80mg per day. Still unable to get <6 for my cholesterol. Eventually, I went to my GP and explained that I was unhappy at being on max dose without seeing benefit. He agreed and put me on Rosuvastatin (Crestor) - that was about 5 years ago. Consultant was not impressed, due to the massive price increase with moving to Rosuvastatin. However, I am always under 4 at my annual check now. Not had any problems with it, but the pharmacist is always checking with me that I've had the appropriate blood tests to catch any issues early.
