Who told you that? As far as I know most root vegetables are fine, except for potatoes which are high carb. You do need to be careful of things like parsnips if roasted, but boiled are OK. 🙂

Good question. Yes they contain some carbs and portion control is important especially if you are a type 2 and diet controlled, but root veg contain essential vitamins and I for one wouldn't want to avoid them altogether.

I just minimise the quantity of potatoes to what I know does not effect me.

All other vegetables I eat in normal quantities as and when the mood takes me.

Andy 🙂

i was told to eat any veg thats grown under the ground, in moderation ...any veg over ground, esp green leaf, eat as much as i fancied

Please dont avoid root veg - it is very good for you - you probably want to limit potatoes because they are such high carb (and GI)and if you are trying to loose weight dont have any veg fried or roasted very often.

Everyone should have a variety of foods and veg should make up quite a large part of it (and its yummy!)

Well things like lentils and other pulses grow above ground and can be quite high carb - though nowhere near potatoes - but perhaps most people dont 'fancy' a lot of them (I do - love lentils😱) - or do they not count as 'veg' ?

i still eat the root veg tho in stews etc and also cos the base for most of our dinns or gravey or sauces is ground onion carrot and celerey
what i really enjoy tho is to munch the cabbage stalks raw ! but cant at mo cos of tooth problems!😡
