Roche have issued a safety notice about a specific batch of Accu-Chek® Aviva Test Strips. Users should receive information directly from Roche. The safety notice is because a specific batch of these test strips does not produce a valid blood glucose measurement on the meter, due manufacturing problems.

The batch is: Catalog No. 06453970020, Lot No. 498287, Expiry Date 11/30/2020

Users of these test strips should check if they have test strips from the batch affected. The lot and catalog numbers can be found on the packaging for the test strips & the label of each test strip.

Test strips from the affected batches should be disposed of immediately. Replacement test strips can be obtained by calling the Roche Diabetes Care Customer Care line at 0800 701 000 (Accu-Chek® Aviva users) or 0800 7312291 (insulin pump users).

Got no 4982s, mine are all 3s and 4s.

We had one from the batch and reported it. Got a replacement swiftly and we don’t have any more from the batch. They didn’t take the blood up the strip sufficiently to get a reading.

Ah that’s interesting @Thebearcametoo

Glad you got them replaced. 🙂

Wow, thats bad.
I wonder how many people will slip through the information net and not know about this and get false readings and believe them.
Is it giving just false numbers or just throwing up error messages?

I've found they have been pretty hit and miss lately, I've had a few pots with the same issue @Thebearcametoo mentioned but when I emailed them they didn't seem bothered in the slightest and I received no apology or replacement though they had always been great before that, I have noticed in my last 2 reorders that the boxes have been different but I know I have with this date so I'll check them later on xx

Thanks for the heads up Mike. Nothing from Accu Check so far, but having checked my pots none are of that code.
I had a different 4982 ... pot, with which I had one weird result, but no others after that. They asked me to monitor and let them know if there were further problems. Never had any concerns about their support.

none will slip through a net, the problem is that the strips aren't drawing blood up to be tested so it is just an error message not a false BG reading

I hope replacements don't take long to arrive, just checked the cupboard and 3 of my 4 boxes are the effected batch 😳
Phone call going in tomorrow morning 🙄
xx

Odd that you should enter that Mike as I've just been asked by them to return my strips from the effected batch in the pre paid envelope they are sending with the replacement pots xx

Pretty glad I didn't throw them in the bin now as I was going to when I discovered they were from that batch, pretty awful if you ask me though, they are clearly working from home as there was no background noise whatsoever with either of the 2 I spoke to, we're being told to stay at home and there's them asking me to go out and post something back to them 🙄 xx

I guess you could always pop by the post box in your daily exercise walk if you didn’t want to make an extra trip?

I’m lucky that I have a couple of post boxes close to me so I’d be unlikely to meet anyone really

Mike I literally haven't been out the house in 7 weeks and 2 days, my anxiety and OCD wont allow me to with the utter lack of care and thought the Eastern Europeans in my scheme have, I'll get my mum to post them when she's out once of her twice a week, I don't really expect to see any replacements this week though tbh xx

I imagine they will wing their way to you from their UK Distribution Centre at Burgess Hill, West Sussex Kaylz same as all Roche supplies - normally signed-for delivery by Royal Mail as far as items or replacement items for pump supplies, anyway, Dunno how RM are handling 'signed for' right now, though as I received my last delivery, just before 'this lot' kicked off in earnest.

Nae doubt TW, I've had a replacement meter and finger pricker from them before but with it being Wednesday when I phoned I don't expect to see replacements until the beginning of next week now, RM are just chapping and moving back for signed items same as most delivery companies however DPD are going a step further and snapping your pic when you open your door! Wasn't amused by that at all xx

Received replacement test strips today, all well and good, did they send a return envelope for the duff ones, did they stuff! Called up and said and they said they would get a return envelope sent out, I need the space but these damn strips will be lying around forever at this rate! 🙄 xx

This is the same batch as I mentioned in a post in September. Interesting.

Exactly the problem I had in September.
Interesting that they’re still in circulation. I’m pretty sure they weren’t sat in our box for very long.
