Roche/Accu Check - is this right?!

So this morning I called the Accu Check helpline because I wanted to get the software/cable I need to download my Aviva Expert stuff soon, I wanted to be able to view graphs/patterns etc, take details along to future appts.....

They tell me it's ?24.99 ! The "Smart Pix" thing?

Why the heck should I have to pay for it? There's no other option to be able to download from this meter.

Very disappointed in this, I am LOVING the meter, have reduced my hypos by using the bolus calculator feature etc but this has annoyed me.

Have others on here had to pay too? 😡
 
I think you've always had to pay for Smartpix - perhaps their free offerings (360 and Compass) don't work with the meter? Bad show, they should have sent it to you for free anyway!

just a thought but does your instruction booklet tell you the spec of the cable if so look on the net. You can prob get one for a fiver.
I did this with my previous pump cable.

Yeah I thought so too, tbh it's made me think I might just move over to the Insulinx instead....so they will lose out more in the long run!

They say it can't be done with a cable...just this infra red thing!? I am clueless with these things....

I'd tell them that you'll have to move to the Insulinx Laura, and they will lose your custom. If they argue that it's 'only' ?25 tell them that's ?25 you haven't got! It sounds similar to my Aviva - it sends its data via infrared, but with the Compass software you get the IR device free as well. You could ring them and ask if the Compass software will work with your Expert.

I told him I don't have ?25 and that it would mean I would have to look at other meters from other companies & that I was really disappointed as I do love the Expert...he's taken my details and said he'll call back today or tomorrow - I don't think I'll get far though! Wonder if my DSN could speak to the Roche rep....

It's strange - I sometimes think it depends on who you get to talk to. I've asked for stuff in the past and got turned down, yet others are more than happy to send me stuff. Good luck, he must have gone to his supervisor! 🙂

Laura, my pump cable was infra red and I just bought it from the net.
 
You still need the software though :confused:

Ah ok thought Laura already had that. Sorry being a bit thick here.

Simple solution then is for someone to make a copy for laura. ( I never said that ) 😛
