Hi all

Yes, yes, Ive gone awol for a while with my food diary...meh

Anyway, I wonder what Type 1 peoples experiences with roast dinners are, in terms of bg spike etc?

Ive not long ago had about 4 medium/large roasties (prob about 200g?), 1 1/2 parsnips (medium), chicken, cranberry, carrots and gravy (lazy version)

Hi Chris.

Normally a roast dinner will have a huuuuuuuuuuuge delay due to the fat and the obvious tatty and snips spike plus poss sugary cranberry may well hit you in the night sometime, so don't be surprised if your waking BG is a bit on the high side. 🙂

But worth it now and then.🙂

Roast spuds are 26g CHO per 100g weight. Boiled are 17g CHO/100g Unless they are new pots boiled in their skins at 15.4g CHO per 100g.

Roast parsnips I dunno, a lot, probably the same as spuds ....

Err I have no problems with a roastie even with yorkshire puds thrown in..

I do roast with Beef dripping though, I'm lucky having the pump as I use a multi-wave, dependant on sacues/yorkshire I have some insulin before eating, the use the second part of the wave extended over an hour which seems to keep everything at bay..

Even in the old days of injecting, I found that I needed to split my injections, some before and the rest about 30-60 minutes after eating.. But never noticed any raised BG's in the morning though.. But there again it would depend on when you eating the roasty, I always eat mine at dinner time/early afternoon!

Me how ever much I love my roasty I only have this once a week on Sunday just ain't the same any other day of the week, unless it's christmas day of cause
