Had my 6 monthly review today and discussed the excellent blood results. BP down, cholesterol 3.8, although not happy they did a general so could not give me the ldl, hdl and trigs but ... HbA1C was 36, previous 2 times has been 38 so I asked why I was still on Metformin if the results were coming back so good. She hummed and hawed and then said she would discuss with the doctor and get back to me. I was not too pleased that she had not discussed between the results coming in and today but.

She has just phoned and said the doctor thinks it would be a good idea for me to come off the Metformin for the next 6 months and we will review at the next blood test.

I am delighted!!!! Another thing she said was that my tests are now non-diabetic. I know I am still diabetic but the results are all very good.

:D:D

Hi Marg,

That's brilliant! Such a nice feeling when your efforts are rewarded with in-range results like that 🙂

Thanks Redkite, didn't realise I would feel so happy!

Fantastic, well done! 🙂

Congratulations on a brilliant set of results MargB!

Hope your numbers stay where they are as you reduce your met.

Hi MargB that is brilliant news. I am really pleased for you🙂

Fantastic Marg, that's wonderful. And well done.

Thanks everyone.

Meant to ask, for those who have also been on Metformin and then come off, is there anything I need to on the watch for? Should I expect weight gain?

There is a GP in the choir and she says as I am on Metformin then obviously I would lose weight, I thought I had lost it because of all the flipping hard work I had put in and the fact I was eating properly.

Any comments on this?

Hi Margb,

Well done - all your hard work has paid off - great news!:DBev

I'm with you on the effort and good diet front. Metformin might have reduced my appetite a bit, but it's hard to say for sure because I was still very hungry until I got used to the reduced portion sizes. I'm thinking about coming off metformin, so would be interested to hear what those who have come off have to say on the matter!

Well done MargB. I'm glad your numbers were good. Isn't it nice when we come out of a d meeting feeling good about how we are doing.:D
