Dear all, I'm new to this forum but I'd like to share my lifestyle change with you.
I was type 2 for 19 years, insulin dependent for the last 9, (100 units a day).
6 months ago a book was shoved under my nose and I was told my pancreas might not be dead. The book was the 8 week blood sugar diet by Dr Michael Mosley. It tells you to only eat 800 calories per day and no carbohydrates. 3 months later, 49lbs or 22.5 kilos lighter, I'm no longer type 2, still have to take tablets though. This has changed my life and if you keep to the low carb blood sugar diet books( brilliant, fresh cooked food) so can you.
Good luck everyone
Bill.

Very well done Bill! What tablets do you still have to take if you’re no longer diabetic?

Sorry to tell you but you ARE still type 2, it isn't possible to cure it. You have just got it well under control, congratulations and well done on your efforts! However if you go off your low carb diet at all you will get the high blood sugars and all the symptoms straight back again.

The diet obviously works for you though so I'm glad you've found it and that you are now feeling loads better! Good luck 🙂

Well done Bill ! 😎

Since diagnosis 2.5 yrs ago, I’ve managed to take my Hba1c down to pre-diabetic and non diabetic levels. My present Hba1c is 42 and was 40 last time. I’m not on any meds and don’t do extreme low carbing. However, I remain on the Diabetic Register and know I’m diabetic. I have heard of people being taken off if they consistently bring in levels of about 35. I firmly believe that there are people who have reversed it but in many cases it’s involved a substantial weight loss.

Well done to you Bill 🙂

My GP tells me i'm no longer diabetic, but I know I still am. They have changed my record to Insulin Resistance. I will know next Friday whether they take me off the diabetic register.
