Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello, I was diagnosed around 11 years ago. I joined the site and this forum soon after. At the time I was living in North Hampshire and working in a local GP practice looking after their IT. My GP was in a bigger practice and my care was good & I understood what I was being told. Six years ago for personal reasons I moved back to the North West living on the edges of the Peak District, which is superb and I'm very happy here having rebuilt my life with new friends and lots of new interests.
I'm confused because of the inconsistent manner my medical care is taking. But this isn't the place to go into this here. I'll do that elsewhere in the forum and try to make some sense of my current situation.

Welcome to the forum Brush-Head froma fellow T2. I'll be 5 years in in December. Little support for diabetics where I am.

Welcome back @brush-head

There seems to be a variation in services , but if you know what checks you need you can be proactive in ensuring that you get these. Have you looked at the 15 Healthcare Essentials in the DUK website. I have those written in my notebook and just monitor that I get these each year. HI am fortunate that my Practice seem to be on the ball and I get reminders if I don’t remember to book in good time.

Here is the link to the list http://www.diabetes.org.uk/upload/About us/15 measures checklist.pdf

I hope that you can get things sorted.

Thanks SB2015. Tried the link but it's been moved or deleted but thanks anyway.

Hi brush head and welcome from me too.

I hope you find the forum as beneficial as I have, especially if your health care professionals are not as clued up as perhaps they should be.

Hello @brush-head welcome back to the forum.🙂 Sorry your care isn`t up to your expectations, its different all around the country, mine is excellent living in Torbay but I do feel for patients who are not so well looked after. I see you are going to post in another thread, hopefully we can come up with a bit of advice to help you.

Thanks for that. Maybe you might be able to answer this about Diabetes UK site (or sites) which is making me even more confused. This forum is part of a domain with a org.uk, whereas there is another with co.uk. Both seem to have recent posts. Same organisation or different ones, either way it's doubly confusing!

Different - co.uk is a commercial site, part of a business selling stuff

Hello Brush-Head, welcome back.
I know it’s confusing isn’t it, the co.uk (red site) is a totally different organisation, it’s a commercial site. They do have forums similar to this one.

I have found a very positive old thread thread of yours

Glad that others are on the ball, and have given you the up to date link.
