Retinopathy

Pleased to say there was a letter to my gp showing on the NHS app, results were all good, annual recall - which I will definitely go to…so relieved, I’ve been so very anxious!
Oh that's great news. Try not to worry now. x

Ah that’s great @MrsAA - really pleased for you.

@jtg1964 It the 'stage one' diagnosis is the same as background retinopathy then it might well have gone by the next test - that is what happened to me back in 2017 to 18, having been diagnosed in 2016.
I would mention that your description of your situation seems unlike many type 2s, and I do wonder if you have been misdiagnosed and could require different treatment than a plain ordinary type 2.
Hi
Bloods back are 82.They said im type 1 so starting me on insulin. Are you on insulin? Feeling overwhelmed to be honest. He said im not type 2 ...and not typically 1 but 1 and a half.Somethings happening in my body requiring insulin.

Don't worry - you are not the only one and a halfer on the forum - I think that you might need to work out how you personally react and your own personal requirements but others have gone before you.
I don't need any medication, not so far, anyway, but you should find much good advice here. First thing though
Don't Panic

As with everything Diabetes related, good BG control is the best treatment. The Doctors will tell you if you require any treatment or not - I've had laser treatment in both eyes and now on injections but this has happened many, many years later after they first noticed the background retinopathy.

Even though I'm having injections in my eyes, my vision is still spot on so please do not worry, let your Doctors and Nurses do that as they are the experts and will guide you through any treatment that is required.

Thank you that is reassuring.

I buried my head in the sand and refused to go for eye screening for the first couple of years, I know I’m stupid but I don’t like the whole being in close proximity to anyone in a dark room,
My test just before Christmas was in a community centre and while the test was done in an area of shade, I wouldn't call it a dark room. Like @jtg1964 I also got my results back very quickly, although I put that down to no one wanting to work over Christmas :D Mind you there were other people waiting in the room while I was getting my test done. The eye test and drops were done behind a screen.
