Yes, it's similar where I live, although if you have any appointments with your GP coming up in the next couple of weeks then it can be worth asking them, as they are often updated before you 🙂

No need to be nervous Helen. The only thing they do is put a couple of drops in your eyes and this can sting a bit for a few seconds. After that (and a bit of a wait whilst the drops take effect!) you just put your chin on a machine and look at a light whilst they take a picture. It's normally just one picture per eye, but sometimes they do more than one if the frst one doesn't look good enough. The main thing to remember is that it can be difficult to focus afterwards, so no driving and wear sunglasses even if it's not sunny! All wears off in a few hours.

Thank you I will make sure I take my sunglasses with me, I managed to bag a Saturday appointment as the one they sent me would have meant the day off work as I work on a computer all day, I also drive so wouldn't have been able to get to work either.

Well done Sheilagh.

I've got an R1 background retinopathy in right eye from my test a few weeks back. Does anyone know what the R1 score means?

It's nothing to be concerned about PeppermintT 🙂 Many, many people get this from time to time and it often resolves itself if you can maintain good control of your blood sugar levels and blood pressure. It won't affect your sight at all 🙂
