Had my retinopathy screening today . Bit anxious about getting my results as a was suffering with very sensitive eyes 4 months ago when my numbers were high. Hopefully they wont of done any long term damage 😱

Hope that all goes well Sheilagh 🙂 When will you find out? It takes a couple of weeks for me, but I know it varies a lot.

They said about 2 weeks .......a very long 2 weeks

Hope it goes ok. I know it's easy for me to say but try not to worry. I have some background retinopathy in my left but sometimes these things can resolve themselves on their own.
Let us know how you get on x

Hi
I guess you are born in 1958 like me . I have bad eyes , one is not too bad , but the other one is . But I have a long history when it comes to the big D . Let me tell you not to worry . If there is damages to your eyes then they would not let you wait for 2 weeks .
You would have by now your appointment for laser or other treatment .

Good news I have just received the following results.

'Your test results appeared normal. This means you are at very little risk of sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy at this time'

🙂

Wahey! Great news.

I am very relieved 🙂 i really thought with my high numbers in the summer i might of done some damage 🙂

Hi

so happy for you !

That's great news, glad every thing is all clear, I had the same result and was very relived when I read the letter.

Hurrah! Great News 🙂

Thanks for all you nice comments 🙂

That's really good news I think the one thing everyone fears is losing their sight.
I have my 1st appointment in a few weeks and I am a bit nervous as I don't like anything being done to my eyes I even struggle to keep then open when they blow the air in your eye at the opticians hopefully because my diabetes has been caught while I am still relatively low when I look at some of the other peoples readings on here I won't have any problems with my eyes.

No need to be nervous Helen. The only thing they do is put a couple of drops in your eyes and this can sting a bit for a few seconds. After that (and a bit of a wait whilst the drops take effect!) you just put your chin on a machine and look at a light whilst they take a picture. It's normally just one picture per eye, but sometimes they do more than one if the frst one doesn't look good enough. The main thing to remember is that it can be difficult to focus afterwards, so no driving and wear sunglasses even if it's not sunny! All wears off in a few hours.

Hi All, just home from having my first retinal screening , just have to wait for results now.
