My appointment for retinal screening was due last September but was of course cancelled, and I was told I'd be contacted in the new year sometime as I wasn't a priority because my results had always been normal.

I'm pleased to say that a letter came today booking an appointment on 17 March (Mr Marten's birthday!) at a local health centre (ie walking distance) instead of at my normal place, UCH.

I choose to be positive and see this as a hopeful sign that things might be getting back to, if not normal, then a slightly better situation in some areas of life, so I do hope that all of you good folk who are still waiting for appointments might get them back sooner rather than later! 🙂

I have just got my Retinal Screening appointment through for 22March, mine will be w years since my last, though I did get sent an appointment for April last year which was cancelled. I was told in the cancellation letter that low risk people would by called when next would be due.
Mine is also at a differnt venue, the last couple of been at a GP surgery in the next town, but parking is a nightmare as it is in the middle of housing estate. This one is in a Function Room in the Town Hall, of that Town.
It says to expect to longer and the staff will be wearing PPE.
Intresting this will be the 4 th differnt venue in this Town I have had my screening.

I'm on the 4th venue so far!

Coventry used to have a specialist eye clinic, so the retinal screening used to be done there, with a slit lamp thingummy - before they took photos. Then they started taking snaps, so first couple of years they had a big mobile unit parked on the GP surgery carpark, then in a room in the surgery for a few years. Then my hospital clinic at Rugby did it there, when the HQ of the screening service was actually downstairs in the same 2 storey building. Then they stopped doing it there and since then it's been at the City of Cov Health Centre. And the HQ is at Worcester ......

I have had more venues, I have also had 2 in my own city, I suspect the invitation to this town is because my surgeries are between my city and the next town.
This venue is not even on my local screening services website, I suspect they using this because of the current situation.

I am only on my second venue, and hopefully I will move before it does.

Originally it was at a hospital in a neighbouring borough, two buses away. Which was fine.

But then I got an appointment for one in a neighbouring county, two trains away. Which was not.

I complained about that and they apologized for the mistake and sent me a list of locations to choose from, so I picked the one in a neighbouring ward, three streets away. Which is very fine indeed.

Good to hear @Pine Marten

Hope the appointment goes well 🙂

Thanks, @everydayupsanddowns, the only thing I don't like is having the eye drops!

Interesting to hear that others have been sent round the houses to different places too. I used to go to a very handy place around the corner, but some years ago when the system was rejigged it was taken off the list and I was sent to various hospitals, including one in York Way. We spent an age going up and down trying to find the entrance of this particular hospital, which had very bad signage and where they were doing some refurbishing of the building. Never again! I much prefer going to UCH regularly as it's an easy few stops' journey on the tube.
