Hi everyone hope you are all well today.

I have just received my results from Salisbury's Hospital regarding my retina screening on 3rd May ( 2 months)! It states :-

The result indicates that you may have proliferative retinopathy. This means there are changes to the blood vessels in your retina, indicating you are at risk of long-term problems with your sight.

Your images have been passed on to Mr ***** at my Hospital.

To be honest I wasn't expecting that, as it was 2 months ago, I just thought it would say there are very little changes and no treatment needed, or something along those lines.

I have my 'normal' eye appointment in August so they may leave it till then. Anyway, if there is any treatment involved ( I hope not :( )then I know I will be in good hands. Mr **** is a brilliant eye Doctor, and he even let Tia look at the back of my eye at the last eye appointment.

Best wishes Sheena

Not the news you hoped, but at least the possibility of treatment is available if you need it that is.............

to my understanding proliferative retinopathy is a step up from background, is that right.......?

So basically leaks in the middle of your eye and not the outside.........

I hope you dont need much treatment........🙂

I'm sorry to hear that the news is not so good Sheena, but it is good to hear that you have such confidence in your consultant. I hope it doesn't need any treatment and that things improve before your next scan 🙂

I hope you don't need treatment, but your consultant sounds brilliant. Good luck with it all.

Hi Sheena

The letter must have been a real shock for you. I'm really, really pleased that you have an excellent consultant. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that if it's not affecting your vision in a way that you notice then it's not going to affect your ability to read etc (which is maculopathy rather than proliferative). I really hope that your consultant explains how the problem can be slowed down, or stopped, and that it will be rather easy, hopefully with just a little bit of laser at most. From my experience the shock of being told is often worse than what follows. Big hugs Amanda x

Aaaawww thanks Amanda, TBH my eyesight seems to ok apart from the droopy eyelids and the different sizes of the pupil that occur from time to time😉 Sheena x

Sorry to hear this Sheena - you are having a run of bad luck/news. I hope things turn around for you soon.

It's not too bad steff, I might go to the hospital and the Doctor might say they are being over cautious. My eyes seem to be okay, so I shall wait and see,😛 sorry for the pun. Thanks my friend. Sheena x

Sorry to hear your news hopefully the consultant will be able to put your mind at rest. 🙂

Sorry you didn't get the result you hoped for Sheena. I hope it's something that can be treated easily and your consultant sounds great. Take care. XXXXX
