I finally got my HbA1c and Cholesterol results yesterday after the surgery sending off my blood for testing on 23rd December and not getting anything back!!! so had to go and have the blood taken again on Tuesday for the lab to test :(

anyway... came back at HbA1c 7.1 and Cholesterol at 4.8

now.... it would have been oh so useful to have had those results BEFORE I went on this strict regeme of diet and exercise so that I could see if the month of effort was making a difference (although I know I wouldn't have got further results for another 2 months) but now I might not see the huge difference I want lol 🙄

by the way... my DSN gave me the results over the phone and 'threatened' me with medication if I didn't improve those figures 😱 ..... I LOVE it when she gives it to me straight lol .... she knows how much I really really hate taking medication

Good Cholesterol though, isnt it????

My GP was happy when mine was that (although i am taking a statin, only 40mg)...

Dear macast,

That HbA1c is not too bad, well done. If you want to get it lower, try this protocol, left click here. Regarding your cholesterol, I can't comment because I believe that cholesterol has nothing to do with heart disease. 😉

Warmest Regards Dodger

'Threatened with medication' ... I had the same too, in fact the DSN threatened me but the doctor told me to resign myself to the fact that I would have to take medication as I wouldn't be able to lower my level of HbA1c of 8. Soon proved her wrong :D Keep up the good work!

What did she threaten you with? Tickling stick, feather duster, tongue-poking? 😱

Your results seem quite good, so recently after diagnosis, don't they?
Congrats. Expect even better numbers next time, if you are as good as you lead us to believe ..... 🙂

thanks guys 🙂

I thought the results were good when she told me..... but then came the threats lol.

Chris.... the threat was medication.... lol..... she knows how I feel about taking stuff.... she knows me well 😉

thanks Linda... that gives me hope that I can do it myself

mrsjaja.... apparently the cholesterol reading isn't good :( it should be below 4

Dodger... thanks... but there was no 'well done' from my DSN.... she's a hard woman to please

but.... I still have 3 months to get those figures down :D

OH!!!!! I was told below 5 was okay, below 4.5 would be fab, my last cholesterol was 4.3 - see i can keep that down okay, lol.......

Keep up your good work xxx

Hi - I think your results are good.

Re the cholesterol the reason they are unhappy is because you have diabetes - if you didn't have you would be congratulated on a 4.8.

Its all very confusing I remember when they moved the goal - posts I was always told that my Cholesterol levels were great then they moved the threshold to 4 and suddenly they were too high.

Did you get a breakdown of the cholesterol as that can be more important than the total amount.

no I didn't Margie.... but I'll ask my DSN when I see her in a few weeks. I thought the results were good too.... but as I said... the DSN is a hard taskmaster lol

thanks Mrsjaja.... you keep up the good work too

Margie - I am the same as you. When she first told me my cholesterol reading I just automatically said "oh, that is good" and she corrected me!! the goal posts definitely moved.

Macast, well done on the reduction already. Although you are being threatened with meds you have still made good progress and now you are a member of the WLG you will do even better next time. 7.1 is just over the border line. I was told if under 7 but over 6 maybe I was diabetic and maybe I wasn't it would be up to a consultant and hospital tests to determine. Over 7 = diabetic.

Keep losing weight, keep walking or exercising and that figure will come down.

Off topic but Margie - hard 'g' or soft 'g'??? Mine is a hard 'g'
