ok guys - ive decided im determined tomorrow - NO SWEET THINGS. im not that weak that i cant go one day even without a sweet. il report back tomorrow night to let ye all know ive done it 🙂

how did you get on?

I've managed all of today without any chocolate or sweets (I was just aiming for the chocolate, but ended up doing both) but I did have a slice of my husbands birthday cake 😱 BUT there's only one slice left and that's for the hubby so there won't be anymore lol and i did achieve what i set out to!!!

gah, i know your pain, i am such a chocoholic!
i have no willpower whatsoever, although i need to start having some!
new years resolution perhaps, cut down on chocolate!

well so far ive had a small bit of choc - but it was only to correct a hypo - so im not doing too bad. ive started to carb count - before i only used to do guess work but now ive decided to carb count. this morning my blood was 4, so for breakfast i had 2 ounces of special k and a slice of toast - this would have meant about 5 units of novorapid but since my blood sugar was only 4 i ate my breakfast then half and hour later i took 4 units of insulin to cover my breakfast. 2 hours later my blood was 9. so for dinner i took 6 units half an hour before i ate to bring the 9 down, after dinner i had a hypo - 2.6, hence the choc to correct the low. so annoying :( but il do better tomorrow hopefully 🙂

you've done well...it's all trial and error so don't fret too much. just keep records and you'll soon see patterns emerging and how your body responds.

for me, if I'd done what you had, I would have gone lo from doing the novorapid so early before eating (but I do work to a 2:1 ratio). so if I had done 6 units with no food, I would expect my sugars to drop by 12.(but like I said, thats just me!! you may work on a different ratio). but you learnt from this that 6 units was too much, so maybe next time, try 3 and then test after and see what that gets you down to.

and chocolate for hypos is ok 🙂

my problem is random bars of chocolate!!

day 3 and I've now not eaten any chocolate or sweets 🙂 (I'm only going for the no chocolate at the moment, but just enjoying the no sweets achievement too!!)

the true test will be tomorrow tho when I'm back at work....sitting at a desk all day is hard not to snack on chocolate....we shall see!
