Maths pedant alert

I have been diagnosed for nine years, which did not fit any of your options.
There should be no gaps and no overlaps in the options.
Everyone should have just one box to tick.

I stopped at that point

I've just got to that point, and have the same problem - I've been diagnosed 7 years. Can't tick a box accurately and therefore can't continue.

Just answer the nearest one above hence I answered 'All my life' which is a complete fib but there again is nearer the correct answer of 45 years than any of the other options. As the precise time we've had it obviously isn't that important otherwise the question would be 'Exactly how long have you had D?' - and because it's so random (Foot problems) - why concern yourselves?

I thought there was an answer that said 10+ - that's what I answered. No one has it all their life because no one is born with it.
 
Sorry pardon me but 10+ doesn't convey 45 or 50 years any better than what I answered - especially since to me it's immaterial. Some folk get complications after about 5 minutes and some haven't got any after 70 years.

I wasn't having a go but on the answers given technically the only thing I could answer was 10+. You could be diagnosed at 6 months old and now be 80 but the only answer for that question would still be 10+. The 'all your life' answer shouldn't be in there as no one has it all their life. I'm not saying it's a good or bad survey or what they are trying to prove with the questions but as with all these things just answer it and hope it helps the person in what they are trying to do.
 
Devising questions/options for a survey is a bit like when I used to write programs - you try to anticipate all the possibilities, but then someone suddenly says, ' Ah, but what if...!' 🙄 This is one of the reasons I am yet to be convinced about artificial intelligence and 'expert systems' 🙂 Or driverless cars! 😱 🙂
 
There are techniques to assist in anticipating the potential issues, mostly based around systems thinking. However, having gaps like that in the survey is just poor attention to detail. It's probably irrelevant because 95% of all statistics are used incorrectly, like that one.

I remember, several years back, sitting in a meeting as a volunteer for a charity where the marketing bod was giving a presentation on the future direction. Then the person presented something based on two data points claiming it to be a trend. They had obviously massaged the data to fit. Given that it was a room full of maths-literate engineers, there were a few facepalms!

Not saying this survey is the they same thing, of course.
