can you speak to your diabetes team? Can your pharmacy do a repeat prescription emergency for you?

I had to wait about 20 minutes a few weeks ago, which has been fairly normal for some years and before 'this lot' took hold.

We both had to titter this AM when we each received an NHS text requesting us not to stockpile mediations right now! To both our knowledge, thus far we've never ever yet requested any of that from the NHS!

You only had to wait 20 minutes I clocked a 40 miutues one a couple of years ago.

Half hour wait on phone is normal for gp surgery here.

Credit where credit due, ordered prescription Sunday night on patient access & arrived at 5pm last night, wasn't insulin but creon.

Try 111 they can authorise dispensation of prescription only medication if all else fails.

Can you not email the practice and point out that you will die unless you have the insulin? There is a thing called econsult which enables us to contact the surgery for prescription requests etc.

Well my prescription I order last Tuesday online ,was not ready for collection on Saturday as usal. Was yesterday. Before all this kicked off the assistant in my Independent Pharmacy, said they often download over 100 prescriptions a day from various surgeries.
Though I did notice the Surgery has amended the date i can reorder next time , to 7 days earlier.

Hope you have managed to resolve this worrying situation @Armstrong971

If you order online, I would submit your repeat request if you allowed to ‘OK’ any dire automated warnings about needing a medication review.

I also understand there is an emergency method whereby pharmacists can dispense an ‘advance’ in exceptional circumstances and get the script written for it later - but it’s probably best to try to contact your surgery if you can manage to get through the phone system

My surgery Practice Manager said that if necessary they override the medication review if urgent and would never withhold urgent medication. Note that I have also built-up a stock of insulin over the last year so I have some leeway if the necessary. For something like insulin it's essential to have some buffer stock and it will never be wasted as insulin is for life.
