I'm wrestling with those kind of numbers after breakfast, but personally I refuse to accept that 12-15 after meals is the best I can do on MDI.
It's just a matter or working out what's causing the numbers and getting some systems in place to work around them...
Right this is a gym day, so I can inject and eat at the same time with a slightly lower ratio
Ah no, this day I'm less active. I'd better give my bolus a few minutes head start.
Oh dear. Inexplicable high fbg. Better give my breakfast bolus an hour and a half's head start.
Might be that I had a 'you've got some tiny background changes in your eyes, but nothing to worry about... to be expected after 20 years...' letter after my eye screening this year. But I'm pushing myself for pump-level precision on MDI.
