Can anyone recommend a reliabke kitchen scale. Just overted what could have been a disaster because my scales weighrd my porridge incredients by almost double for the weight shown.
I use salter. Have you replaced the batteries in your scales?
I have these ones though I got from elsewhere cheaper. They’re massive, you can put a whole dinner plate on and still see the numbers easily without the plate covering it.
Combining two kitchen essentials in one gadget - the Salter Max digital weighing scale can also be used as chopping board to lightly slice and prepare food.

I have Salter digital scales, mainly for weighing the dog food and they are really reliable. They don't half get battered as well, with three dog bowls clattering on them twice a day 😉
Salter, every time. They were good enough for my grandfather’s grocery shop (no batteries then) and they’ve always been good enough for me!
Argos have a good selection
I am another Salter-gal.
If they were out, my baking wouldn’t work.
However, I rarely weigh my breakfast. I can go by eye for most things.
If you regularly have porridge, could you put a (possibly imaginary) marker on your bowl of find a smaller container (like a cup) to measure. I find it quicker especially when you don’t need to be as accurate as you do when baking because there are so many things that affect our BG.
I use Salter too. I’ve found them very reliable and use mine a number of times a day, both for my food and the dog’s. I paid £20/£25 for mine a few years ago. I’d be lost without them!
