Hi all.

Ive relapsed and my bloods are extremely high, Im a busy person and not always working from home, I seem to be grabbing salty foods and this is having other issues on my health, so am rehydrating, ive relapsed and need some encouragement and support knowing things I can eat and get myself understanding this more.

Thanks

What do you mean by relapsed? Are you taking your insulin properly and doing corrections to get your blood sugars down?

Welcome @47XXY Your profile says you’re Type 1 - are you taking your insulin? How high are your bloods? Have you tested for ketones? If you explain a little more, we can make more tailored suggestions.

I suspect that it is highly likely that you need more salt in your diet.
We do need salt and avoiding processed foods cuts out a lot of salt - I used to work for Allied Lyons and know how much salt goes into normal foods.
I used to occasionally eat packets of crisps, I have no resistance to temptation, but it was because I was not getting enough salt. Now I add salt to my coffee a couple of times a week and no more cravings.

Go easy on salt, can elevate bp so reduce or look for low sodium salt, get own from Tesco.

Thats very kind of you to say that, I think what with running my own business work was interfering and I was not eating when I should and when I did eaty it was the wrong types of food.

I have no idea how to do correction to bring the bloods down.

How much fast acting insulin do you add on when you’re high and how much would it normally drop your bg by?

Have you done any of the education courses offered by your clinic DAFNE is one or the on-line BERTIE as many have found them very useful.

Why don’t you start by answering some of the questions about what insulins you take, how you calculate your doses, whether you have ketones etc then people can give you some ideas?

Would also reccomend doing the free online courses to learn more about insulin adjustment, or reading the books on this.
