Type 2
Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a good day .

Type 2 diagnosed since Oct 2020 and my HBA1C was 79 initially then 80 after three months and now 46 at my 6 month check last week ( definitely the Jardiance that did that, no credit to me who gave up and went on a three month sugarcide mission!!) now doing monitoring to read my sugars before and after meals for a week and daily results seem to fall into the ranges that people suggested on here ( 5-7 mmol Pre and 7-9 post).

Given those results I am now wondering whether or not to book my eye test which was due last October. My prescription for my glasses is nowhere near adequate anymore however Nurse advised better to wait until my sugars were more normal otherwise I might end up paying for new glasses that would be useless in a couple of months.
Any advice greatly appreciated

Barry

I would have thought that with your last Hba1c at 46 and the levels you are seeing when testing, that you should be able to now go ahead and have the eye test. I would ring your opticians and describe what you have told us and ask their expert opinion. in my experience they are pretty clued up on diabetic issues.

Sounds like you have made great progress @Badwolf

Has your vision seemed stable for the last month or so? Or has it felt like it was getting blurrier or sharper?

From a level of 50 last June, 42 in sept and 38 in dec (booked next test for next Wed) my vision is only just settling down, it is my near sight that is the problem and still not quite back to normal but improving. I have hesitated going to the optician yet as my prescription for lenses is pretty expensive.

My nurse has said the same for me though my hba1c is still at 120 (down from 143 a month ago at diagnosis) so my sight is changing but yours seems fairly stable so go for it.

Thanks but the credit for the progress def goes to the Jardiance not to me lol. Eyesight not really changed much in the last month or so that I’ve noticed. Had my eye test yesterday so stronger reading glasses on order.
