Refused insurance

A insurance quote isn't a legal binding contract, so can be withdrawn without reason by the insurance company! Insurance only becomes a legal binding contract when both parties agree to price terms and conditions, either party can pull out..

All the quote really means is that if the insurance company decides to accept you on it's book it will do so at that price!

Even though it's illegal to discriminate against us, insurance companies are allowed to decide what they are willing to underwrite or not as part of their insurance, i.e males under 25, women only drivers, no driver who's had a previous conviction for drink driving etc etc..

Sometimes the mind boggles with how they achieve their pricing for policies indeed..

I've just renewed my insurance, I normally have fully comp but decided to look at 3rd party fire and theft! which I thought would be a cheaper option, but to my suprise it was ?90 cheaper to have fully comp insurnace!!!!!

Am I right in thinking the driving problem is only when you have type 1? as a type 2 do I have to tell DVLA and insurance company?

R ob tried that one aswell no joy ,i tried to get storage insurance but could not get that either. They told me that having valid insurance but no license meant i could still drive and they would bebob party to that so insurance withdrawn. bob

The issue is treatment, not type. If you use insulin and drive cars or motorbikes, then you need to inform DVLA. If you are treated with tablets or diet, then you don't need to inform DVLA. In all cases you need to inform your insurance company - and may need to explain rules about informing DVLA to them.

Also there is a further issue with insurance as since 1st Jan 2011 you must have your vehicles insured if they are mot/taxed or get a fixed penalty ,how can you do that if your license is revoked and you cant get ins cover Bob

Surely you can just fill out a SORN form and keep it off the road as you would have done before, thereby not requiring ins/tax/MOT ?

If you have no off road parking, then it must be insured and taxed, which is what I thought it was anyway.

The new regs come into force on the 4th of febuary. If a car is taxed it must be insured even if kept on private land.
If the vehical is sorned there isn't a problem, but for people with a taxed and tested car whose insurance runs out just before payday the option of putting it in the garage until said payday has gone.
They will get a fine through the post if they don't declare the vehical sorn.
