Thanks for the points about fats v carbs... that's my understandign too.

So - a question... if fat isn't the problem why do this site's meal planners promulgate reduced fat cheese?
Old habits die hard. The 'fat is bad' thing has been around for over 40 years, so getting it changed is not going to happen anytime soon.

OK - seems to me that what I need is a LOW CARB diet rather than a weight loss/low calorie etc diet.

Cool.

I once went tghree months on a no/very low carb and high protein diet when in winter triathlon training. I ended up dreaming of pasta and bread mind! LOL.

Time to resurrect a regime of eggs and cheese, fish, steak and fowl, salad and steamed veg. It's game season too 🙂

Choker.

Indeed. It's only because people like us have to get so knowledgeable about our food intake that we know what actually helps - the vast majority of the population have no idea what's going on.

What I would say is don't go overboard - you may not need to. Use the testing regimes to determine your tolerances for things, there's no reason to discard or restrict things that your body can tolerate perfectly well 🙂

Definitely eat good cheese, don't bother with the low fat stuff. If you go low carb, then the weight loss will come. You've got to keep some of the good stuff in your diet or you'll go nuts!

You have to find a level that you can maintain long term. I initially cut out many things and could not maintain. I have for the last few years had a more moderate approach and cut my portion sizes. You need to find the level that works for you.

Northerner Sterling posts. You have made even clearer for me.
