You might recall that at some point I was trying to set a world record for the number of ways in which you could connect to the forum. Whatever it was, it has been increased by 1.

This is coming to you via my new toy... a mini PC running windows 11. Picture below with 10p coin for scale.

It goes better than my big black box PC which says something about the way things have moved over the last 10 years and the amount of rubbish that has been loaded by all those "updates" clogging it up.

So, if like me you like a desktop set up... big screen, proper keyboard, proper mouse, then you don't need a noisy big black box any more.

nice one

I've got something similar under the TV - use it to play video files.

Yes it uses a mother board based on the N100 chipset. . This one has a 512Mb SSD, and just enough connectivity to be useful and the performance for ordinary stuff is quite remarkable. I might have found one of the things they don't mention and that is a bit of fiddling around might be needed to get the graphics to work optimally.

All jolly good fun and keeps the old brain ticking along.

Update.....

My new toy has just been sent back to Amazon. Something has gone wrong with it - it just hung when you tried to boot it up. Tried all the software tricks and hacks I could find but nothing got it going except booting into "safe" mode. I learned a bit about Windows 11 and can see why there are a lot of grumbles about it with Microsoft making it harder and harder to get to the bottom of software issues when you want to do something other than run Microsoft products on very standard kit.

Anyway, I suspect that there is a hardware failure, probably in the SSD that had been fitted to it. The basic idea, building a desktop replacement around a N100 motherboard looks good. Just need something that has not cut corners on quality to get the price down.
