have you got a food processor gail if so
grind up onion carrot and celery with a bit of garlic
fry until soft
add tin of chopped tomatoes tomato paste herbs basic mix will do and extra water and cook till it goes all thick and yummy ....basic tomato sauce ...
Fry onions and garlic in 1 tablespoon of olive oil for 2 minutes - then add tomato and cook for 5 minutes. Add basil just before serving if fresh basil. If not fresh - add at the same time as tomato.

That sauce was really yummy i enjoyed it so much last night. This morning I got up and found out that I had left the slow cooker on whoops I NOW HAVE A COOKER THAT IS GOING TO BE A B**CH TO CLEAN Still its soaking right now
