Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all. After years of diabetes tests coming back negative I found out I have type 2 diabetes 10 days ago. I have my first nurse appointment in a couple of days and an appointment with my doctor regarding diabetes and some liver tests I had recently in a few days.
I don't know much about anything specific to me yet so I'm just following recipes from here and a couple of cookbooks I picked up. I feel so much better mentally for finally sorting my sugar intake and upping my fruit, very and oily fish count but it's hard to know exactly what to do without yet having seen a medical professional.
All I know is I'm so so lucky to have a supportive partner who is making me strong and adopting my new diet to help me get through. I think that's a important as any diet changes themselves.
This website and you guys will be huge too!

Hi Leigh, Welcome

Welcome Leigh. This is the place to be for great advice and encouragement.

Welcome to the gang Leigh 🙂

You do have to be careful of the carbs in quite a bit of fruit, Leigh. Sweet and juicy = high fructose (ie sugar by another name) content.

Hi Leigh and welcome too the forum. Just to echo what jenny said, be careful with fruit intake, lots of sugars in fruit. Berries seem to be the best to go for.
