Howdy, Victor. Welcome to the forum. How’s it going so far? There is lots of help and advice available here if you need it, no question is too silly.

Hi bronco tnks, for reply just thought i would give this a try, diagnosed 2 weeks ago so very new to this, been reading a few threads and finding a few people going through same feelings as me confused, worry, and not knowing what to do

Confusion, worry and not knowing what to do are all perfectly normal emotions to have. The good news is that this is the worst part. If it’s anything like when my kids were diagnosed with type 1, there is a thick fog at the start, but what is a struggle now will become routine soon enough, to the point where it’s just part of your everyday life.

Hi Victor, welcome to the club no one wants to join 😉 it can all be a bit daunting at first but it’s amazing the difference few changes can make. Best advice I got here was to remember that you are facing a marathon and not a sprint, so the changes you make need to be sustainable. It’s not just the obvious sugars we need to avoid, carbohydrates are the biggest enemy, they send our blood sugars soaring! I chose the low carb route so I cut out all pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, many of us eat Burgen bread which is a low carb soy and linseed option that works great for toast or sandwiches. Be careful with fruit as that also has a high natural fruit content, the guidance is two small pieces a day at most, some people can tolerate berries but sadly they don’t work for me :( Testing regularly is also a great way to work out what works for you, if you test before you eat and again two hours after, you will be able to track the impact.
Do feel free to ask any questions, everyone is really friendly :D
