Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi there. Im kylie. Diagnosed 8 days ago type 1. Overwhelmed and in denial at the moment. Havent taken it seriously when know i should and generally feeling sorry for myself. Need to snap out of it as eatimg everything i shouldnt almost on purpose at the minute like im trying to confirm its real. Being foolish hoping being in a support group will help me deal with it all and realise how serious ut can be.

Thanks

I was the same, but give yourself a bit of time to adjust, and it becomes a lot easier.

Hi @Kyliebop welcome to the forum 🙂. O.K. lets start with basics, initial shock of being diagnosed with T1 diabetes is normal but you have joined a superb resource of knowledge. A little bit more information about how you came to be diagnosed and the treatment you are on will be helpful, we have all been were you are at one time so don`t feel you are alone because you are not. Please ask any questions at any time of the day/night, members are global and we are grateful for their knowledge, rest assured we are a community that looks after our fellow members and that includes you. A very warm welcome to the forum @Kyliebop. Your'e not alone you know ~ most of us have been where you are now. Following the initial shock of me being dx (diagnosed) with Type2 I too went into denial. It's not unusual or rare for some newly dx people to do this. However I promise you, with the help and support from this forum you will get back on track given time, patience and dedication.

In the meantime, I don't wish to overwhelme you with all sorts of advice and help but I will point you in the right direction of the following link which you will find both helpful and useful.

Please don't be a stranger KylieBop ~ stay in touch as we will accompany you on your diabetes journey and will endeavour to answer the numerous questions you have in mind to ask. Here's the link:~
