Good luck, pleased to hear this doc was on the ball. Quite agree the difference between docs/DN nurses is quite amazing. Hopefully with the specialist help and the scan you will get a better understanding of what is going on and the right treatment.
That’s good news, this way you will know for sure and adapt your treatment appropriately. Remember either way your diabetes can be mostly controlled by you with the right tools and information and we are all here to help. X
Thanks for updating us.
At last someone is taking things seriously , I would stick with that particular Gp if possible
I hope you don’t have to wait long for the scan and it shows there is nothing nasty going on.
They said it would be done within next 2 weeks. Really like this doctor. Was on the phone within minutes of me leaving and did exactly what she said she would do. Such a relief.
Just to update. Ct scan was apparently clear but results from a stool sample have shown that there is a problem with the pancreas but that's all they are telling me. Not what is is or how it's to be treated. T1 tests still not back after 5 weeks but I guess they are overrun at the moment. Sugar readings vary between 18 and 25 no matter what I eat, mostly not alot as even 2 slices of wholemeal bread sends it from 18 to 25.....
Sort of stuck in limbo a little now. Telephone consultation due this coming monday.....
They should have started you on insulin regardless of when your test results come back, but eating bread is not going to help you, even wholemeal. Get back in touch with your GP or DN or the diabetes clinic helpline. I think perhaps they were not made aware that you were not on insulin.... it seems like you have fallen through the net a bit with all the current chaos..... please push your GP to get more help. Your BG levels are dangerous and the last place you need to be right now is A&E, so push for getting on insulin and do it tomorrow. Badger people.... this is serious and needs sorting before it gets critical..... but please start reading labels and avoiding carbs in the mean time. This is not just about cakes and biscuits and sweets. Bread, pasta, rice, couscous, potatoes, breakfast cereals and even that otherwise healthy porridge and fruit will push your BG levels high. I know it will be particularly difficult to get appropriate food with the current situation but you need to do your best to eat low carb.
If you give us an idea of what you normally eat, we can perhaps make suitable suggestions for low carb alternatives at least until you get some insulin, but really can't stress how important it is to push your GP/DN of Diabetic clinic for urgent help. This cannot wait until results come back. Someone has overlooked the fact that you are not getting the appropriate treatment already.
I'm eating mainly green veg, and chicken to try and keep the levels down. Whether a slice of bread or a chicken breast with broccoli, peas and nothing else, it sends my levels through the roof. Keeping carbs to an absolute minimum. Drink lots of water and the odd coffee. Went as emergency to my gp 2 weeks ago with levels of 29 and upon doing a urine test had ketones present. Was sent straight to a and e. I sat in a and e waiting room for 3 hours by which time levels had dropped to 19.1 and sent home with nothing more than a "I will write to your gp"
