So my friend just posted a photo of an amazing dessert on facebook and her brother commented on it saying "AKA Diabetes on a plate"

........I was not going to let him get away with that so i expressed how i felt and that he should get his facts right and now everyone is telling me to besically get a grip and calm down as it was a joke!

Sorry but its not a joke to me! i am really angry and upset and dont know what to do as it was a few of my good friends commenting telling me i was silly and i didnt think they would :(

Of course you're right... but that's not always enough. There's a lot of ignorance out there, whipped up by the press. These idiots haven't bothered to educate themselves, but then again neither did I before diagnosis. It's up to you whether you let it go and move on.

P.S. You could publicly request the recipe, pointing out that you CAN have it as long as you inject the correct amount of insulin.

Take your pick of one of these:

From bottom to top:

home made yogurt - Good
Chocolate cake (350g sugar in this bad boy)
spelt loaf - (sort of good)

P.S. all made today by me.

It's important not to get too upset, doesn't do your body any good at all.

P.S. bananas - Good?
I didn't make them.

one of the things that annoys me is people tell me I am not allowed to eat certain things because they have a lot of sugar. I know I get the nuclear fall out if I eat a whole bag of jelly babies from time to time

Think at the moment I would settle for a nice big slice of the chocolate cake. Need some thing to cheer me up.

I get annoyed too with the "Food Police" They started selling Belgian chocs in the shop where my sister works and I went in and bought a few just because - well just because I wanted to try them, one included in a meal every couple of days until I'd satisfied myself that they looked better than they tasted (they were nice but not really worth the money) but one member of staff started the old "should you be eating those" "have you checked your sugar?" Yeah it drives me nuts if I'm honest so I'm with you on this and I'll have a big piece of chocolate cake to calm me down!!

Don't really fancy the chocolate cake, but if you want to whip up a coffee and walnut cake... 🙂😛

Vic I'm disappointed the quality of the picture of the yogurt hardly shows up well 😛

Coffee and Walnut for me too. Really don't like chocolate.

One of my favorites, but walnuts seem to go rancid so quickly, I would have to be making cake continuously.:D

Sorry Steff, it's white and closest to the flash. I was really taking pics of the chocky cake - which was lovely.

One of the advantages of getting old is the ability to tell people to get stuffed (in a nice way of course). I think the trick is to eat things with fat as well as sugar, so maybe jelly babies in yogurt would be OK. I find KitKat, blue riband etc are not too bad and a small piece of my chocky cake.

Best I can do is to think of you guys when I eat my piece tonight😛

P.S. cake is interesting in that it's made with boiling water. I used Belgium cocoa powder for the cake. Elmlea cream and vanilla pod filling, and elmlea cream and belgium dark choc drop ganache for the covering. Can't give the recipe as its not mine😡

Hi Would they say something similar if it was , say, cancer, my guess, probably not 😡 so I can see where you are coming from.

How about this, desserts is stressed backwards 😛

Best wishes Sheena

I know what you mean...someone I thought was a friend has posted a link on fb to what is supposedly an 'honest ad' by coca-cola re their products & their links to obsesity...cue the inevitable sweeping reference to how drinking excessive amounts of coke means you risk getting 'diabetes'! As if the only reason people of any type get it is because of their empty calorie cola-addiction diet?! :roll eyes: nothing to do with genetics, or autoimmune conditions then eh?! ...I know we're told there is a link to lifestyle for type 2 diabetes but that's not the whole picture & it seems so unfair to always broad brush this issue (well, it annoys me, anyway!)

You're right the're wrong, if you like them just point out their ignorance and move on, if not just delete them:D
