Relationship to Diabetes

I was watching a repeat of I think real A & E on day time TV. There was a diabetic man on there that had one of his toes turn black from getting a small cut on his toe.

The infection took hold rapidly turning his toe black, this then resulted in having his toe amputated due to gangrene setting in. The problem was added to by the fact that there was very little blood circulating in his foot, which resulted in a further operation to amputated his leg below the knee.

All this was put down to him being diabetic. What was good was the fact that he showed cheerfulness though out all what happened to him.

Instead of some programmes playing what one might call lip service to diabetes. Why not make a programme that shows how things can rapidly change from feeling like there's nothing wrong to the consequences of some thing going wrong and how that has a dramatic effect on ones life.

Totally agree pav, the unfortunate truth should not be concealed and people need to be aware of the dangers.
