Dear All
I'm writing behalf of my farther. He has diabetics, but he is stubborn and lived alone, we can't be 100% sure than he kept all the diabetic under control or not.
However the GP never prescribed insulin pen or anything like that. He was an active person. But within six weeks of numbness on one leg developed into almost no strength (paralysis of a leg and arm)
It seems to be progressing to the other leg as well and he feel numbness in the other leg.
This happened August this year and unable to walk within 6 weeks, Now our farther lives with us at our home. So that we could take care of him.
There is no stroke (all the ECG and stuff seems clear)
Can the diabetic neuropathy can be this sever? Can it progress that quickly?
He doesn't have much pain, except no strength in his leg and one arm. He can only take few steps very slowly to the toilet with the aid of the walker.
The latest GP suggest it may not be the Diabetic Neuropathy and re assign to a neurologist.
He has done a MRI on the head and all clear, no heart condition either.
Last week neurologist prescribed more scan on back. The Neurologist also suggested it could be beginning of an Alzheimer related. But we don't see any symptoms that we associated with Alzheimer's.
We really don't know, we still think it is Diabetic Neuropathy.
Is there a way, consultant or mechanise to confirm this? Sorry about the long winded we are struggling to get something definitive answer with the NHS system.
