8.2 at 11.30 I did a correction yet at 1.30 it was 13😱 Did another correction and it is now 14.7😱 I feel yuck and I'm meant to be doing a really special meal this evening. I will check BG again in 30 minutes (BGs were nearly perfect all of yesterday)

Could be a cannula problem?

Thanks Redkite that what I was wondering as I put a new cannula in at 10am. I think I will change it in half hour if BGs don't start going down

Mmmh not sure what happened but BG didn't go down and when I pulled out the cannula there was bleeding

I just wonder if weather being colder is something to do with things. My bloods perfect until yesterday evening and from last night they've increased all day and I'm now on a temp basal of 150% and doing bolus corrections. I did come home from work last night (6.3 BS at 5pm) exhausted and I'm the same today. Are you feeling ok apart from high BSs? Could be an underlying cold / bug. Worried now that it's the rogue novo raid vial but I have continued to use the same insulin for a few weeks and blood fine until then.

Thanks Riri sorry to hear that you're having problems as well. I don't think it is the cold because I'm in the house and warm. I hope that you get your levels sorted out soon.

Thanks. It's so frustrating isn't it. Thought I'd change my set after reading this topic. I'll see if that does anything. Let's hope your blood sugars start behaving soon too especially with your meal tonight. Just checked ketones and they're at 0.8 so something is awry.

We get this occasionally, ie the cannula hits a blood vessel under the surface and then the bleeding prevents the insulin absorbing properly. We also sometimes get a cannula that was working perfectly ok getting clogged with blood due to being bashed or tugged on, but that's 12 year old boys for you! Correct protocol is to change your cannula just before a meal, so if there is any bending of the cannula you would know about it pretty quickly when the meal bolus didn't work, and also if there was any sub-surface bleeding then doing a meal bolus straight after insertion should flush the blood back through the cannula before it clogs it up. But how many of us always find it convenient to follow "protocols"?!!

Hope your levels come down nicely now. 🙂

Riri, sounds like a bug if you were feeling exhausted and rough with normal BGs. Don't forget to correction by pen injection if your first pump correction has no effect within 60-90 mins (not necessarily back to target range, but a proper drop at least). Hope you feel better soon 🙂

Thanks Redkite. The cannula change has worked, thankfully, now down to 8.6 🙂

Glad to hear that BGs are down AJ.
Redkite - thanks for that. I'm a devil for not doing this and persevere with pump corrections. Somehow it's hard wired into me that if cannula and pump ok then my pump corrections should work! I need to get an injection correction in soon I think. I guess I still continue with temp basal rate as well if extra insulin is needed.

I'm another who had been near perfect numbers then bang out of the blue numbers in the 10's feeling very ick. Kept on blousing, sugars staying the same. So upped basal and now back to normal. Only difference is the weather is a lot cooler than it has been.

Thanks Riri. Sorry to hear this Sue. I hope that things feel better for you soon
