Random shopping purchase

Lol. Be careful Pear trees grow quick!!

We have one in our back garden, the good news is they have pretty flowers and unlike apples, unlikely to get rotten fruit.

It's my wife pear tree and she won't even let any kids in the garden near it (no chance of me pruning it either).

So a good buy and enjoy it, perhaps next ime just take a shopping bag with you

I'd not rule it out, one of those foldable festival carts seems like just the sort of thing that might also be for sale in the middle aisle of Lidl..... 🙂

Sounds like it could be 2 or 3 years old so it could fruit. When the little pears appear keep the best 3 or 4 and remove the rest. As it gets bigger it can cope with more fruit.
 
I did not buy pears trees to plant here - I ended up with two golden delicious apples, as we are on a ridge top - pears like more moisture and all the time - a couple of weeks of drought can kill them.
I carried them back from the supermarket - they would have been around 7 ft tall.
Conference pear is self fertile - the non fertilised pears are longer and often bent, but they taste the same as the ones with fertile seeds.
The apple trees are in bloom at the moment and they are heart stoppingly beautifully pink at first, with the fresh leaves just showing, particularly against the clear blue skies we have had recently. They usually show the first signs of life around my birthday - which cheers me up no end, most years. Some years there are hardly any apples - it is cold and very wet today just as the blossom is turning white - hopefully there will be warmth and bees very soon. On years when things work out there are what seems like thousands of apples, bending the branches right down under the weight.
