Ok so i will make an appointment for the docs when they open again on monday. But thought i would ask on here.

I have been taking Rampril for my HBP since March and have no problems at all. Now you all know i have an anxiety disorder which i take Sertraline for. I know what anxiety/panic attacks are obviously but the past week, on a off i feel a little flutter as if my heart is a little racy. It's last 20 secs at most, doesn't hurt. It can happen when walking or sitting on the laptop.

Ever since i had both the flu and pneumonia jab i have been ill and had issues. Now this.

Do you think it could be the Rampril causing a side effect all these months later? or do you think it could be my anxiety disorder? I mean, my anxiety disorder is in 2 parts. One is the Generalised Anxiety Disorder but i also have what they call a Subconcious Anxiety Disorder. I might think i'm fine but something in my subconcious is bothering me. Now this happens alot to me. But never have i paid attention to the flutters. So not sure if it's new or not. I am noticing them now however.

I think more than anything i need to get this out to keep myself rational but i am interested to hear others thoughts :D

Well - it's called palpitations.

The absolutely ONLY time I have ever had it, including the time when I was having full-blown panic attacks when I had a complete mental breakdown - was for a couple of weeks before I dragged myself to the doctors in 1972, to find out I had diabetes!

I was specifically asked by the hospital docs at the time, Have you had any palpitations? and I asked do you mean just kind of like a fluttering on the left side of your chest (under and below my boob) but no sign of your heartbeat changing before or after? Yes - and I was told it was a common symptom of high BG for too long.

That's all I know about it, I started on insulin and it's never happened since.

I have no idea whatsoever if it's a symptom of anything else though.

I had palpitations before diagnosis too, and then really full on when I started insulin in hospital so they solved a problem for me (well another problem aside from the not dying 🙂). I have a tendency towards Low potassium levels so it was a symptom of hypokalemia for me. Had it on and off for a few weeks after diagnosis but not since. The thing is that wouldn't be caused by a BP medication I don't think because they usually increase the amount of potassium. I'm a bit anomalous with potassium though I have low blood pressure and a tendency to low potassium and sodium which confused them so it could be related I suppose?

Not much help there really, hope they calm down it's quite unsettling 😱
