Feel free to ignore this folks, but typing this stuff makes me feel better 😱

Why does everybody in my department at work reward hard work and effort with cakes and sweets!!!! ):-(
Every time it gets hectic some smartalec thinks "i know, i'll buy some chocolate coz that will say thank you and cheer us all up..." not me!!!! I've been avoiding chocolate since i was daignosed (and they know i'm diabetic, i work in a hospital pharmacy for crissakes, they dispensed my Metformin and Insulin when i was first diagnosed!!!). I feel left out and unvalued.
Oh and today my boss decided to buy dohnuts for everybody, and didn't even ask me if i wanted one, least of all if she could get me something else instead...
Bunch of sugar junkies.....grrrrrrrr

Ahhh, that's better.

AWWW POOR YOU !!! I HOPE THEY ALL GET FAT LOL 😱 I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL , I DONT EAT CARBS EITHER SO NO TREATS FOR ME SOB SOB SOB

hi rachel that is very unsensitive of collegues and your boss what do they expect you do to walk around with im a diabetic remember around your neck or what!! , they should include you more and not make you feel undervalued even if it was abit of choc that was dark or some sort of sweet that was'nt so high in sugar at least they would of thought about you in a way and not left you feeling so left out , maybe have a word with another member of staff you feel close to and just say look im part of this office im diabetic that dont mean i cant be included in the odd treat.

That is really hard. If you say anything you may get seen as spoiling people's fun as they will then lose out on their sweets. If there is a way of saying something anonymously maybe you could. They could reward with praise or for example letting someone go early, making good comments on appraisals and noticing you when there's a chance to do interesting work or a promotion. It is not good for anyone's health to reward with sweets and cakes and it also isolates you.

How cruel can these so called work mates be?

Just a thought Rachel....

Do you use a rapid insulin and know how much to take to correct for a cream cake?

If you do sneak out and get a huge cream cake, have the insulin somewhere out of sight, make a grand entrance and then eat it in front of them making all the Mmmm that's really nice windey up noises.

That'll show 'em you're able to eat sweet things.

That realy pisses me off too, everyone wrked hard so we will buy a big box of choclates as a treat, or we'll go to the pub.

When it is my turn to buy stuff as a treat I take in lots of fruit and low carb stuff. Then they all moan because it looks too healthy to be a treat, and I tell them they are all getting fat and sluggish and unhealthy.
