Just a quick one ? I am going to bite the bullet and go for my blood test at lunch. As I have no testing stuff at home and am an impatient so and so do you reckon they will let me know what my sugar levels are while im there (the fasting one) if I ask ? 🙂

It depends if they have the equipment there to tell you. All you can do is ask and the worst they can say is no.

It depends on who does the blood test I guess. When I have mine done it?s a case that I?m seeing the specialist who takes blood only and they are not trained (or equipped) to test blood glucose (the blood gets sent away and comes the result comes back about 2 days later).

But if the person who takes your blood is a DSN or a practise nurse trained in diabetes, then you can always try asking.

Although I?d nag your doctor about test strips. Remember that you can get a free meter from Abbotts.

I was going to say the same Bob re getting a free one for Abbotts - it only comes with 10 strips but might be useful for days like today.

I also would speak to the GP/nurse because you can demonstrate how well you have done already this year and if you go along the lines of you now want to fine tune what you eat and keep a log to see how your sugars are affected by food - you might be on a winner.

I think you have to state a good case for why you want one - ie what would you do when you know the results. (quite obvious really if you find something spikes you - you remove it generally from your diet).

It is definitely worth asking for one Bob.🙂

Good luck with the test Bob,I suppose you can always ask
Ive already pointed Bob in the direction of the free meter @ Abbotts and offered some strips if he needs them.

Blood test done - now just for the long wait until next Thursday for the results 😡

They said they couldnt do the sugar levels so am going to get on to Abbotts this afternoon 🙂
