Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have been type 2 for 2 years. Not on any medication just trying to control by diet. Struggling to eat breakfast. Suggestions please. Doing low carb diet. Cannot eat cheese.

Hi Jessy, you were diagnosed 2 yrs ago, just left on your own, do you self monitor ..!

Thanks Martin. No not left alone. Diabetic nurse is very good . Yes I have a meter but had stopped using it. Bgs gone up to 50 for 43. I gave been given 3 months to get it down again before being put into needs.

I went on a 25 night cruise and struggled with what to drink. I don't drink alcohol and can't drink fizzy.

I'm not sure about your blood glucose levels, as they sound like the American levels, but can't imagine anything worse than being on a cruise and trying keep control of your blood levels,,

Hi Jessy, welcome. Sounds like you are still not too high, just under 7% so if it is your cruise that’s pushed things up a little, you should be able to turn it around 😉 testing is key for me, it stops me from getting complacent and keeps me on my toes 🙄
Do ask any questions and have a good read through some of the threads if you want inspiration :D

Well done Jessy. I adore Seafood. Kippers, Rollmops Salmon & scrambled egg 😉

Today I have eaten the following.
Breakfast Small helping of grapefruit segments
Lunch Lettice Tomato celery and chicken breast.
Dinner peas runner beans and Ray wing. Strawberries.

That's it. Just done BG - 8.00. was going to have an orange but not now.

cant go wrong with Sausage egg & Bacon - or even just scrambled egg & bacon.
Possibly with a slice of burgen toast

Hi Jessy. Welcome to the forum. Fruit is not the best choice for breakfast, have you checked if it spikes your BG levels? You might be better with bacon, eggs, or high meat content sausage. You will only know by testing different options. Some people are OK with weetabix protein (with almond milk, sugar free obviously), or Burgen bread.

Oranges are also high carb, I make a dessert of sugar free jelly made with half water and half cream, it's really nice and low carb.

Do have egg and bacon couple of times a week but also trying to loose weight. Have never going a cereal I like.

Hi Jessy, fruit is a no no for me and is the one thing I miss more than anything, breakfast is usually scrambled eggs or Burgen toast or Greek yoghurt with some almonds, my weight is dropping nicely with the low carb high good fats approach.

Lots of folks rely on eggs I think. Poached, scrambled, omelette, frittata...

Filling and sustaining with bacon/ham and minimal carbs or without 🙂
