I have a diabetic Pin Number

Which is on a central database somewhere. Not sure if it is Stockport NHS Trust or a national one. Will try and find out.

When I had my retinopathy check - the optician typed my number into the database and brings up my records.

I also have a medical excemption form and it was my understanding that people with diabetes got free prescriptions.

No Dizzydi only if you are prescribed with diabetes medication be it insulin or tablets. Diet controlled diabetes without medication will not be entitled to free prescriptions.

i am diet controlled and the only thing I am entitled to is free eye tests. I do get my statins on private prescription tho - my local chemist only charges me ?4 for 3 months worth......

Now that you have an exemption card, this will cover you for any medication that you have including your asthma prescriptions. If you have time lift on your prepayment certificate maybe you can claim it back?

🙂

I knew I was heading towards treatment so I only had a three month certificate it only has a few weeks left.
My exemptation certificate was only applied for on the 15th of January, so it being dated from 20th December seemed strange to me.
