Hello everyone, not been here for ages and now could do with hearing your wisdom. My system failed me yesterday as I was a complete idiot and I know now I took my lantus twice yesterday morning as was 2.4 during the night and 3.6 on waking.
Questions is, when do I need to take my lantus next? I normally take it every morning and haven't yet as worried about even more hypos!
Thanks and hope everyone is doing well.

Even if over injected I imagine you should still take your normal dose as usual and just keep a close eye on your levels, you don't want it all out of your system and ending up the other way

Nice to see you posting again
xx

Thanks for your swift reply. Yes, that makes sense and will keep a very close eye on my levels. Feeling lucky I wasn't even lower in the night. I am feeling such a idiot but know many have made such mistakes!

Nice to hear from you NJ 🙂 With Lantus I would be tempted to take just half the usual dose as it can take 2-3 days to 'clear' the system, unlike levemir which is reliably gone within the 24 hours. That way you might go a bit high, but not excessively and it's better than risking going low 🙂

Hope your levels return to normality fairly smoothly and swiftly NJ.

In your shoes I would have just taken the regular dose at the next regular time, because Lantus never really lagged that much for me, but taking a smaller dose (even if just knocking if a unit or two) as Northie suggests would have been a more cautious approach.

In the end I have been very cautious and just took half my lantus, levels still lowish so keeping a very close eye and not taking any bolus.

Hope the hypos leave you alone soon NJ.

I think it takes 3-4 days to clear the system, so erring on the side of caution and taking half the next dose was a wise move. Hope the hypos stop soon x
