Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes recently and I got told I was 53 and I honestly have no idea what that means and how the levels work in diabetes... I've tried googling it but I couldn't find anything about it!

The only thing the Doctor told me was I'm a 53 and the goal was to get it around to 47 again I have no idea what that mean... Could someone help me understand please the cut offs etc as I have no idea. I just want to learn everything about diabetes!

That would be your Hba1c result so that's based on your bg over the last 3 months, a page I found states Normal - below 42, Prediabetes - 42-47 and diabetes - 48+ x

Hi Jonezzy, welcome to the forum.
Kaylz is right. The Hb1ac is an average of our BG (blood glucose) over the last 12 or so weeks.
Anything above 47 is in the diabetic range . 53 isn’t actually too bad , I was 115 at Diagnosis (dx). that was around 23 years ago.

How did you come to be diagnosed.

Fortunately diabetes is a condition that with a bit of work and the right info, can be well managed and you’ve come to the right place for info and lots of cyber support, so feel free to ask any questions you need to , we’ll do our best to help.
