So i'm going to see one on the 1st July, wondered what sort of things they'll ask or anything?
i've never been to one before and my doctor seems to think seeing one will help with my weight issues i have.
But i'm slightly scared, what if i come out and they say i'm depressed or something?
ahh, help?

Hope the appointment goes well and you find it helpful 🙂. I would think that they would be unlikely to tell you you're depressed and just send you on your way - more likely they will get you talking about your thoughts and feelings, and if there is anything negative that is impacting on your life they will suggest some coping strategies etc. Do let us know how you get on 🙂

Hope you find it a positive and helpful experience. I have been seeing a psychologist for a long while now and they have helped me on my long road to recovery. There is no need to feel worried. Good luck:(

Hope it goes well for you. I saw one many years ago, and we just talked and talked about things in general. After a while the problem was hightlighted and the matter got talked through and how to deal with it.

There was always the option to change psychologists as one my not always click with the first one you see.

It did cost me nearly 2 years off work, with my illnes, but with out their help it could of been a lot longer. Doctors may offer meds if they think they would help, if I remember I kept the meds to a bare minimum as I did not want to be on them long term.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. I'm sure it'll be a positive experience. Good luck!🙂

dont worry, love, one of my children had serious depression, has been helped alot. depression is, mostly, not the end of the world, if you have it, you can get through it, wityh love and support. No need to jump the gun though, see what happens, stay positive.🙂

Only ever dealt with psychologists with my 9 year old who has all kinds of anxiety issues. I think it helped me more than him because I stopped worrying so much

Hi Estellaa

I went to a psychologist about 15 years ago for help after suffering from anorexia for years which when combined with diabetes is a huge disaster in the making if allowed to spiral out of control. I was pretty cynical about going initially although I did get good advice and ways to move on from the mess I was in. He certainly didn't suggest I was depressed, I do remember him calling me stubborn though! We talked about the issues I had with diabetes management and weight, I didn't feel as if I was being criticised for my actions.

I found the appointments helpful just to tell someone what I was doing and along with an eating disorders clinic and my diabetes consultant I slowly managed to get myself out of the difficult place I was in.

Don't be scared, they are there to help you not suggest other problems to you. I hope you find it beneficial. Good luck.
