Given that there is a constant stream of misreported and misinformed nonsense about diabetes on TV, what types of programmes do you think would work best and get the real facts across to the general public? Let's know your ideas - it could be a cookery programme (e.g. Come Dine with me), a documentary (Horizon, Panorama, etc.), a medical-style programme etc.
I think that something vaguely along the lines of 'Supersize/Superskinny', but instead having 'Type1/Type2'. Now, before you all start screaming at me, I don't mean a programme centred around weight at all, but the different treatments and methods used to manage the diabetes, the origins, the successes, triumphs and failures. People of different types could work with each other to understand the different approaches and help each other to get good control, and maybe a non-diabetic person or two could also follow the program of diet and activity so they (and the public) could get a proper understanding of what it all means and entails. There could be segments that speak about the lesser known types, like 1.5 and MODY too. Even better if they could have some celebs involved! 🙂
