I was previously on canflagazin and metformin and progress was extremely slow. However mid Dec I was prescribed Mounjaro by the Diabetic Nurse and the results have been great. My last HbA1c blood test was down to 48 from 68 previously.

I've been taken off the canflagazin but remain on metformin. Some occasional nausea to start with but very rare now. The bonus is the weight loss. I had shed a couple of Kgs through healthier eating but I've now lost another 14Kg and am so pleased.
I have also been prescribed mounjaro by an endocrinologist through the NHS. I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I am under the hospital as I had Cushings disease previously.
The mounjaro is working really well in terms of lowering blood sugar levels and reducing my weight (BMI in obese range). I would like to stay on mounjaro long term, but I wonder if, as if my BMI eventually falls into the ‘normal’ range and HBA1C is at a normal level would the NHS take me off mounjaro? Wondered is anyone has any experience of this.
I am also on metformin and losartan for blood pressure currently.
I am finding it so much easier to make better food choices with this medication and I can see that long term staying on the medication will help me maintain all these benefits longterm (control my blood sugars, weight and blood pressure).

Any thoughts?

Whilst discussing with the diabetic nurse she stated that the 5ml strength was a maintenance dose so I am assuming that it will be treated as a long term solution.

Thank you, yes that makes a lot of sense to me. I’m on 5mg at the moment and I don’t think I will need to go up for blood sugar control, if I do it would only be to 7.5mg I would imagine. Maintenance dose at 5mg would probably be about right, taking into account the effect of weight loss on blood sugars as well. I guess along the way my other medications will also have to be reviewed too. Thank you for your response

I suppose the hope is that people will make dietary changes that will be instrumental in reducing their blood glucose and losing weight and that the need for medication will reduced so it doesn't seem unreasonable that they have a review when their situation has changed./*

Agreed, I think it’s a balance isn’t it. All medical interventions need to be monitored and tailored to the individual, as we all have different health conditions. Some people may need to stay on a maintenance dose while others are able to come off and maintain the health benefits.🙂
