Oops! I've just had 3 pringles which is 5g of carbs but with no bgl test and no humalog - teatime was 19:08pm so bedtime test isn't until 23:08pm unless I test a bit earlier.

Could just eat a few more too

Generally 5g carbs isn’t enough for me to worry about either - but with a sensor on I can always check to see how my levels are doing.

It‘s the shape, the texture, the crunch!! There are some things I have to avoid as it is difficult to limit my intake, especially the Pringles covered in Dark chocolate.

On injections I didn’t worry if I ate 5g of carbs or less, as I wasn’t able to dose for them.

Yep the pringles saying is true, once you pop you can't stop lol, I haven't eaten them since I was diagnosed but used to eat a big tube in a oner, my faves were either the sour cream & onion, texas bbq sauce or prawn cocktail, the flavour was always strong which is what I loved about them xx

When my daughter was first diagnosed we were told that if you have a snack which is less than 10g of carbs then you don’t need to bother with insulin. I don’t know whether that’s a general rule or only for pumpers, but I wouldn’t worry about it!

That’s one thing I would still weigh, 16g pringles is 15g carbs or something like that, I’d have to weigh them out to get the right amount. When my daughter is getting her own tea though she just guesses it lol - and she’s 15 now, I have to allow her to start making her own decisions!

I'm full of admiration for anyone who can stop at 3 pringles! :D
Hardly touch them these days for that reason but with a glass of chilled white in the garden I sometimes find them impossible to resist!

Hi @Sally71 that's what I was told about no insulin if you eat a snack of less than 10g of carbs.
Well done to you for allowing your daughter to make her own decisions and we'll done to your daughter for doing it. Re the 16g weight of pringles is 15g of carbs I've posted 2 pics one of carbs and cals and one of nutracheck

Carbs and cals = 8g of carbs

Nutracheck = 8.2g of carbs

I've never seen Pringles covered in dark chocolate. Where did you find them, or did you fix them yourself?

I was at a friends who produced them. It slows the eating of Pringles, but increases the temptation. I have never bought them as I doubt I would resist.

I know this might seem strange( or anal) but I have weighed out a portion of Pringles using the serving portion size on the tube. This equates to 15 individual Pringles so now I know how many to eat at a time.... Problem solved. 15 Pringles = 30g CHO's

Crisps of any sort were always my downfall. I think I would literally kill for a family sized bag of Onion Rings - it's the only thing I am 'craving' since giving up crisps, chocolate, cakes, biscuits, pasta, rice, bread, potatoes ...... and just generally all other food 😛 🙂 but it will be worth it if/when my HBA1C goes down

Help needed please
I've just had or shared a bag of mini cheddars with Billy (our westie) - the cheddars have 13g of carbs in them - I didn't have insulin for them - my next test is bedtime so what do I do about whatever my BGL is?
Usually when I do my bedtime test if it's below 8mmol I have a snack of 10 - 15g of carbs with no insulin
if it's above 8mmol and I still fancy a snack I tell the bolus advisor I'm having 10g of carbs less so I get a smaller dose of insulin because I don't like the idea of having insulin before bed.

LOL - hope Billy enjoyed his share!! How many did he have? If the whole bag is only 13g carbs and you didn’t eat all of them then it might fall into the “you don’t need insulin for a snack less than 10g” rule, in which case you don’t need to worry. It probably won’t have a massive effect on your blood sugar so just follow your normal rules at bedtime.

Thank you for your help @Sally71 - yes thank you Billy enjoyed his share and fingers crossed he's helped me out with the "you don't need insulin for a snack less than 10g" rule.
