Hi should I get a prick test machine to keep a check? If so which ones do you recommend? I’m on metaforim twice a day …. thanks

If my wife had a prick test machine she wouldn't have married me! 🙂

To answer your question, it's up to you.
I didn't do any testing for 3 months after diagnosis, just concentrated on losing weight and changing lifestyle.
Now I test to see what happens when I eat certain things.

Many find a blood glucose monitor super helpful in making good food choices. A couple with the cheapest test strips are the GlucoNavii or Spirit TEE2 but do shop around as prices are fluid.

Hi RachelW,

I think having a monitor is super helpful as you can see the impact that each meal you have has on your blood sugar levels.

The recommendations above are very helpful, it comes down to your needs at the end of the day. The important thing to look at is not only the cost of the machine but the ongoing purchases such as the lancets and the strips.

Worth checking a few reviews on Amazon and Argos before purchasing.

Hi There Welcome to the forum! You can find the recommended blood glucose monitor here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-t...cose-monitors-and-continuous-glucose-monitors
With a CGM your latest sugar levels show up on device or mobile automatically, transmitted by Bluetooth. With a flash glucose monitor, it’s only when you wave (scan) your device over your sensor that you get your sugar readings.
Hope you find this well!
