Where can I find the right figures for the prevalence of the 2 types of diabetes as a percentage in the UK? I have got 2010 figures and 2016 figures. The more I research the figures the more confusing it gets for me. Some figures give the number of adults separate from the children.

I suspect, if the stat's think there are only two types of diabetes then they might not be right in the first place...
The problem is there are people who are mis-diagnosed (and I think it's a statistically significant amount) and the GP's don't usually go back to correct how they are listed in the system. Historically people would be listed as NIDDM or IDDM not Type 1 an Type 2.

I have no idea - why do you need to know an exact number?
And at least 99.99r% of the children witll be Type 1, I should think.

Look at the National Diabetes Audit? The 2016 figures are published I think.
Alternatively DUK probably have some prevalence info on their site somewhere.
The last I knew it was around 3.5-4 million people living with diabetes. Of those 10% are type 1 (so around 350,000 - 400,000) the majority of the rest T2 and a proportion LADA, MODY and the other rarer types.

True Mark - then there's the ones caused by eg cancer plus the steroid induced sort.
But it was why I was asking 'why' - what is Tendem actually trying to establish - he himself doesn't have diabetes it seems, so what FOR does he need to establish a bang up to date figure - are 'we' even counted by what/who ever, every year?

Don't forget MODY, which itself is at least 6 separate subtypes and speculated to be more then thatAs others have said, "two" types of diabetes?There are at least five (T1, T1.5, T2, T3c (there are at least three T3Cs on this forum) and gestational), and some or all of those are a spectrum rather than a sharply-defined "type".
