At risk of diabetes
Hi
Two days ago my doctor told me that my yearly blood test had shown I have Prediabetes.
I have Googled and am learning a little more daily. Recommendations for breakfasts and evening meals please. Thank you

Hi there! What do you currently do for those meals? It sounds as though a few nips and ticks may be all that is required to bring you out of the pre-diabetes zone.

Breakfasts are often something people find difficult to change as the usual go to cereals and toast are not too good if you are trying to reduce your carbohydrates. Things which are good are eggs in any form with bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, smoked salmon are all good choices. Full fat Greek yoghurt with berries, and seeds and maybe a small amount of a low sugar cereal like All Bran or Granola for a bit of texture.
Some people find porridge is OK for them but others find it too high in carbs. Some people have low carb bread which they can tolerate but 1 slice only.
As you are only prediabetic then reduced portions of your usual breakfast may be OK but just be mindful of high sugar containing cereals and fruit juices which are best avoided.
Have a look at the thread What did you eat Yesterday for some good meal ideas from people with Type 2 or prediabetes.
Also have a look at the learning zone for information. Beware of some of the unfounded information you might find in Google searches.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Welcome to the forum @Caro57

It looks like your thread accidentally double-posted so I have merged the threads to keep your replies in one place 🙂

Here’s the ‘what did you eat yesterday’ thread that @Leadinglights mentioned

Thank you - really useful.

Thank you - having looked at the thread I feel more positive. It was a bit of a shock! Lots of food I'd eat. Hurrah!!

Hi Caro57, welcome to the forum.

I thought I was going to have to eat rabbit food for the rest of my life so I relate to the shock of finding out that isn't the case 🙂

We've got a really good recipe finder also which may help to add some variety to your new lifestyle https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/recipes
