Hi I was losing weight (unintentionally)so worried went to dr had a blood test came back A1C 44. Said I was pre diabetic. I have a good diet, have started to get stomach cramp, pee a lot. Dr said just be careful what carbs you eat and we will test you in 12 m onth s . I really don't want to lose any more weight as I am underweight.

Welcome @jaclyla 🙂 12 months does seem a while to wait. Did the doctor/nurse also test your urine for ketones? How much weight have you lost and in what period of time?

Welcome to the forum @jaclyla

Sorry to hear about your elevated glucose levels, and your weight loss :(

While T2 diabetes is more commonly diagnosed in adults, it certainly isn't the only type of diabetes that adults develop. So it might be worth staying open to the possibility that you may have a different type developing - particularly with unintentional weight loss as part of the mix.

I think @Inka ’s suggestion of keeping an eye on ketones would be helpful.

Having said that, the weight loss may not be related to diabetes - I think that should be investigated to find out what is going on?

The symptoms do sound as if they need further investigation as it could be a number of things, a urinary tract infection causing the stomach pains and frequency. Because an HbA1C is basically an average over the previous 3 months it could hide something that has only occurred in recent weeks.
Did they also do a finger prick test which will give a glucose level at that moment in time. I don't know if you are male or female but ruling out anything gynaecological or prostate related would be wise.
